Step back in time on a 7-mile round-trip rail bike excursion along the historic Northern Central Railroad! The company provides special pedal-powered rail bikes (no need to bring your own). 🚲 These are comfortable 2- or 4-seater cars that sit directly on the tracks — all we have to do is pedal and enjoy the ride.
We’ll pass scenic farmland, colonial stone houses, river bridges, and villages unchanged since the 1700s — all on a flat, easy track where no motors are needed.
The highlight of the ride is the Howard Tunnel, built in 1838 and the 2nd oldest railroad tunnel in the U.S. This tunnel even carried Abraham Lincoln’s coffin after his assassination in 1865, making it a truly unforgettable place to experience.
🌦 Weather: Excursion runs in light rain (bring ponchos/umbrellas). Heavy rain or storms = cancellation with option to reschedule or refund.
👟 Requirements:
Riders must be at least 3' tall and under 280 lbs.
Closed-toe shoes required (no sandals or flip flops).
🧺 What to Bring: Bottled water, snacks, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.
✨ Don’t miss this chance to ride the rails through history — an adventure that’s part exercise, part sightseeing, and 100% unique!
