A very nice walk that takes in Grassington, Linton Falls, Linton, Thorpe, Burnsall, Loup Scar and the river Wharfe.

From the National Park Centre car park at Grassington, we head down to the footbridge above Linton Falls, then pick up quiet lanes into the picturesque village of Linton, which serves as our morning break stop. From here, a mixture of tracks, field paths and quiet lanes guides us to and around Elbolton Hill and thence into the village of Thorpe, where we will consume our packed lunches at midday on the village green. We then head out of the village, picking up a track before various field paths take us up and over the lower slopes of Burnsall, followed by a succession of stiles that bring us into the pleasantly-located village. The final leg of our route is a lovely riverside trail which takes approx. 1hr 15mins to complete. This includes walking across a suspension bridge which does move a bit and eventually we find ourselves back at Linton Falls, just below the car park in Grassington.

Start location: Grassington National Park Centre car park. The standard parking fee for National Parks is £5.50 so you may wish to car share to mitigate the cost and to also reduce the number of cars we are trying to get parked up. It’s a good size car park but it does get busy. The postcode is BD23 5LB. Toilets available which were free the last time I checked but previously I have been charged 20p/40p.

After-walk refreshment at The Devonshire, which is in the centre of Grassington looking out onto the top of the cobbled square. The pub has outside seating at both the front & rear of the premises should the weather be pleasant enough.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring a packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
