Second run-out for this walk, which is an easy flat walk. Cowthorpe is close to the A1, A168 & A59 and within a short drive from Knaresborough, Harrogate, Wetherby, Leeds & York!

Our route is predominantly along field paths, tracks and quiet roads, also the villages of Cowthorpe & Hunsingore are visited and we cross railway lines twice!

We will meet outside St Michael’s Church in Cowthorpe, the postcode is LS22 5EZ. The historic church is signposted off the main road on a bend close to a red telephone box.

Parking options:
Limited roadside parking is available so car sharing is highly recommended. You can park along the main through road and there are some places to the park on the road leading up to the church although that will depend on what time you arrive!
Alternatively, if you are one of the earlier arrivals, we have permission for limited parking in the grounds of Cowthorpe Hall Farm. Drive up the approach road to the church and at the end is the entrance to the farm. ONLY park along the brick wall facing the church, leaving enough room for farm vehicles to get by.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £2. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink for a short morning break.

After-walk refreshment: No local options so we will adjourn to the Anchor in Whixkley, a ten minute drive away.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
