Heartbeat Country: Grosmont-Goathland + Steam Trains!! 7.5 miles

Details
NEW WALK!! A hilly moorland walk book-ended by the NYMR steam train stations at Grosmont & Goathland, with woodland & riverside trails as well as meadows to traverse. This walk will feel like a longer one due to the number of ascents (and descents) but it will be worth it as you can ‘almost’ guarantee to see at least one steam train!
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.
Start point: meet in front of the Station Tavern adjacent to the train station. Postcode is YO22 5PA.
Parking: the closest car park is the station car park (£5) but if it’s a busy day, you may to have park at the National Park cp (£5.50), which is 200 yards further down the road so please factor this in as it will take a while to walk back up the road to our start point.
Toilets: on the station platform and, if in the other car park, as you start to walk back up the road, you go under a bridge and public toilets are across the road. Further toilets are passed in Goathland.
Please note: Grosmont station is run by volunteers so there is no guarantee the toilets will be open on arrival.
After-walk refreshment options: Station café, the Old School Coffee Shop - a licensed café and also the Station Tavern.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
