Roecliffe (near Boroughbridge) & the river Ure - 4 miles

Details
Second run-out for this evening walk not led since 2022 but The Crown pub, a 16thc coaching inn, has now reopened!! Roecliffe is an attractive village with several greens, a red-brick school with clock tower & spire as well as the inviting inn.
Location: Roecliffe is less than two miles from Boroughbridge, just off the A168 and close to the A1.
No sooner are we walking out of the village, we have a lovely vantage point overlooking the river Ure as we make our way down to the riverside trail that leads us upstream as far as Westwick Lock. From here we return by a more direct route along tracks, through woodland and across fields as well as some quiet road walking back to our start point, where The Crown awaits us.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £2. No dogs please.
Start point: outside the village pub, postcode is YO51 9LY. Roadside parking. Car sharing highly recommended due to the limited parking on the village streets.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
