Fangfoss - 6 miles

Details

Second run-out for this walk. This is a flat, circular walk that connects the villages of Fangfoss & Bishop Wilton. The terrain is split 50/50 between field paths & grassy tracks and solid tracks with access lanes & country roads.

Fangfoss is 11 miles east of York and is accessible from either the A166 or A1079.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink for a short morning break.

Start point: in front of the Carpenters Arms, Highfield Lane, Fangfoss, YO41 5QG.

Parking: Roadside parking only. The pub is near a crossroads and the two sIde-roads offer most of the available parking, Station Road is on the opposite side of the road to the pub and the road that leads down the side of the pub (to the lhs when facing it) also has parking, even though its marked as a ‘no through road’. In addition, there is a lay-by opposite the pub.

After-walk refreshment: no options in Fangfoss so we will take a five minute drive to nearby Wilberfoss where the Oddfellows pub is located on Main Street, postcode is YO41 5NN.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
