A change of venue this year, having been to the same place for the past three years. Our walk/meal combo sees us patronise the oldest pub in England!
Our walk will commence at 9.45am with the meal booked for 1pm.
Venue
Bingley Arms, Bardsey, LS17 9DR. Bardsey is located just off the A58 between Leeds & Wetherby.
Event Eligibility
This event is open to anyone who has paid their £10 annual membership fee. There is no charge for the walk/event.
RSVP/Deposit payment deadlines
You have until August 12th to RSVP, in order to be considered for the initial allocation of places.
Places will be allocated on August 13th.
Deposit payments are required no later than August 22nd.
If the event becomes over-subscribed, places will be awarded based on the number of walks attended this year, also taking into account how many walks new members have attended during the time they have been in the Group.
You are welcome to RSVP for both Christmas events but I will endeavour to ensure that as many different people as possible can attend at least one of the events.
PLEASE NOTE: When you RSVP, you will initially be diverted to a Waiting List pending allocation of the available places. Therefore, up until the August deadline, the event will say ‘full’ even though no places will have been allocated.
Walk
The walk is optional and for those who do attend the walk, you are welcome to use the pub’s car park. It will be assumed that if you haven’t arrived in time, that you are not intending to do the walk.....
NEW WALK!! Some will note this walk contains sections from the two previous walks I’ve led from Bardsey but there are new bits in there as well!
Initially we head off in the direction of Hetchell Crags & Pompocali but via a different route from previously taken, then we pick up the majority of the evening walk route before heading off in a different direction towards Scarcroft. From here we eventually pick up another new section before finding ourselves back in Bardsey.
A bit hilly at times but nothing worthy of note. Woodland trails, field crossings & country tracks along with bits of pavement walking alongside quiet roads.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £0. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink for a short morning break.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
Meal
We have been allocated one of the top floor dining areas.
The menu is still in the process of being formulated but the current Sunday menu is £28 for two courses and £32 for three courses. I’ve been advised the Christmas menu won’t see a ‘great deal of difference’ in pricing. Pre-orders will be required.
Dietary requirements can be catered for and of course there will be other options besides the traditional Christmas fare.
Deposits: £10pp. Account details will be provided once places have been allocated.
Seating plan
Once you have been allocated a place, please feel free to message me with requests as to who you would like to sit by.
Cancellations
Once your deposit has been sent to the venue, you will only be refunded if there is a waiting list and someone can take your place.
Final balance payments/Drink purchases
Aside from deposit payments, the remainder of your bill should be settled on the day on an individual basis.
The pub has requested that when you arrive, you should purchase and pay for your first drink at the bar before sitting down at our tables.
Subsequent drinks orders will be taken at the tables and paid for immediately as the staff will have mobile card payment devices.
