Bishop Monkton - 4.75 miles

Details
Usually led as an evening walk but I didn't have space on the evening walks programme this year!
Bishop Monkton lies between Boroughbridge, Harrogate & Ripon and is only 45mins from the centre of York & Leeds.
BM has a lovely village centre with a roadside stream, which is our start point, outside the Masons Arms pub. The pub is located on St John's Road, off the main through road and the postcode is HG3 3QU.
Roadside parking on St Johns Road, also on the parallel street as you drive up St Johns and on the main through road.
Highlights: the river Ure, Westwick Lock, Newby Hall and a WW2 training site !
We will be walking along country tracks, across fields, riverside trails and access roads.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee £2. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink for a short morning break.
After-walk refreshment: the local pub won't be open when we finish our walk so I propose heading off to the newly re-opened Ship Inn at Aldborough where you can park in the pub car park or along the street. The postcode is YO51 9ER.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
