Tadcaster – Newton Kyme: 5.75 miles

A walk not led since 2022!! And an easy walk to boot!

The Britannia car park is located off the main through road in Tadcaster (A659 Commercial Street) and is next to the Coach & Horses pub/bus terminus. Postcode is LS24 8AB. The car park is free and has a toilet although it costs 20p and its one-at-a-time!

From our start point, we soon leave Tadcaster behind and pick up the riverside path We follow this all the way to Newton Kyme, a small village with grand properties hewn from the distinctive local limestone.

After a short break, we walk along a trio of quiet country lanes before heading along countryside paths to gradually make our way back towards the riverside. Our return route then veers away from the riverside to walk over the viaduct.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £2. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink with you for a morning break.

After-walk refreshment at the Coach & Horses pub or if you prefer, there is a small café opposite the car park.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
