Roundhay Park, Leeds: breakfast, walk, coffee & cake! 3.5 miles
Details
The itinerary:
10am: Join me for an optional breakfast at the delightful Lakeside Café in Roundhay Park, Leeds.
11am: A 3.5mile saunter within the confines of one of Europe’s largest urban parks, taking in the majority of the features & landmarks along the way. Full narration included!
12.45pm: After all that exercise, time for some coffee/tea & cake/lunch back at the café. I have to say the range of cakes is exceptional!!
The cafe is located in an idyllic setting and is very popular. Please refer to the website for breakfast choices & prices.
Please note:
Previously, access to the cafe has been through the rear entrance.
Given how quickly the place can fill up, if you wish to have breakfast, you are strongly advised to arrive by café opening time (10am) or even a bit earlier. Its a good-sized place but very popular.
With this in mind, please don't expect me to keep the non-breakfasters waiting outside whilst you’re finishing your breakfast!
Toilets: located just inside the front of the building.
Start location of walk: outside the main/front entrance to the café, opposite the parking area at the bottom of Park Avenue/The Carriage Drive. The postcode is LS8 2JL. Roadside parking available as well but it does get busy early on. The car park costs £2.50 for four hours. I understand parking is still free on the approach road to the car park.
Walk fee: £2. No dogs please.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
