Details

The Washburn Valley is awash with reservoirs and this walk involves a circular route around two of them. The walk is predominantly flat on good, solid tracks and paths with a pleasant picnic area for our lunch stop.

Fewston & Swinsty are located to the west of Harrogate and to the north of Otley and our start point has a Leeds postcode!

START POINT: Swinsty Moor car park – this is the one with the toilets. If travelling from the B6451, turn down (one of) the roads s.p. Fewston. En route, depending on your direction of travel, you may pass Stack Point car park (on the edge of Swinsty reservoir) – this is NOT the car park we are meeting in!!

PARKING: Yorkshire Water now charge for using their car parks. Fee is £3 payable by card only. The ticket machine is close to the toilet block. We will meet by the toilets.

POSTCODE: LS21 2NP is the closest postcode.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

After-walk refreshment at the Sun Inn. Head back to the junction with the B6451, turn left and the pub will shortly be on your rhs. Postcode is HG3 1SZ.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
