Golden Acre - 6 miles
Details
Second run-out for this altered and extended version of the short walk I’ve led on previous occasions.
Pleasant walk through the gently undulating countryside just to the north of Leeds. We start from the main Golden Acre car park situated on the Leeds - Otley Road (A660) and walk through the grounds of Golden Acre before our route takes us along country lanes, across fields, woodland trails and around a big pond! We may be fortunate enough to see the residents of the sanctuary at Lineham Farm as we pass by!
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink with you for a short morning break.
PLEASE NOTE: good size car park with toilets. The toilet block is to the right of the café, just inside the park, as you’re facing it. Please use before the start of the walk as we will not be walking past the toilets once the walk commences. Also, please ensure your satnav takes you to the correct car park. If you are in the woodland car park, you are in the wrong one! It’s the main (large) car park immediately off the busy A660 where we are meeting. Car Park charge is £2.50 for four hours.
We will meet in the far corner of the car park at the top of the steps leading to the underpass. Postcode is LS16 9JY.
After the walk, we will have the opportunity to patronise the café in Golden Acre. It’s a good-sized café but maybe it will be warm enough to sit outside on the terrace and gaze out at the parkland whilst enjoying our refreshments!
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
