Washburn Valley - 10 miles
Details
NEW WALK!! The Washburn Valley is ‘reservoir country’ and we will be passing by three of them but this is not a flat walk that circles reservoirs. It is, however, an ideal walk to consider if you wish to test yourself on a longer walk than normal since there is no significant ascent/descent.
Our route also takes in Little Alms Cliff and the Hunters Stones.
The terrain includes woodland trails, access tracks, field crossings and road walking. There could be some sections that are soft underfoot/boggy if we’ve had wet weather.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/snacks/drink with you.
Start point/Parking: Stack Point car park at Swinsty Reservoir. Car park fee is £3 for six hours payable by card. This is the car park running alongside Swinsty with the picnic area looking out across the reservoir. It is the car park without the toilets! Postcode is HG3 1SU. See pics!
Directions: The car park is located a few minutes drive from the B6451 between Otley & the A59 Harrogate-Skipton road. If travelling from the Harrogate end, turn off the B6451 AFTER passing the Sun Inn, taking the right-hand turn sp Fewston. Do not take the Fewston turn-off before the pub.
After-walk refreshment: Sun Inn.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don't go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
