Second run-out for this walk, previously led in 2022. This is an extended version of a shorter walk I’ve led from Crayke, this time heading further north to take in Oulston village & reservoir and the source of the river Foss.

There are a few climbs on the walk but nothing too strenuous and we are treated to some fine views of the Howardian countryside. Our route takes in sections of road walking, field crossings and woodland paths.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. We will be having a break on this walk and what you bring with you, will depend on whether you wish to book a place on the post-walk meal.

Start time: 10 for 10.15. Please aim for the earlier time to ensure we set off on time.

Meeting Point: in front of the Durham Ox pub. For those who request a meal place, you can use the pub car park. Everyone else, please park on the roadside. Car sharing is recommended to reduce our impact on the village & the pub's car park. Postcode of the pub is YO61 4TE.

Meal option: I have booked a table for 16 people (two tables of eight) at 2.30pm. If you would like to reserve a place, please post a message on this webpage. Please note this option is only available to Group members who have paid their annual membership fee. No pre-orders or deposits required.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
