Dunnington & Route 66 - 7 miles
Details
A walk not led for four years! A flat walk in the countryside just to the east of York. We start in the village of Dunnington, just off the A166 and not far from the junction with the A64.
This straightforward walk makes use of field tracks & paths, country lanes & access roads. There are significant stretches along metalled lanes or tracks but pleasant (and quiet) nonetheless. We walk through the villages of Dunnington, Warthill and Gate Helmsley as well as ‘route 66’.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.
Start location: we will meet in front of the Cross Keys pub in the village centre. Roadside parking along several streets but recommend car sharing, where possible.
After-walk refreshment at the Cross Keys, which looks out onto the small roundabout with a small stone column on it, in the centre of the village or alternatively, there is a coffee shop nearby.
Postcode (of the pub) is YO19 5NG.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don't go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
