What we’re about

At the top of Yorktown’s Victory Monument stands Lady Liberty, a reminder of the freedom and unity our forefathers fought for on this very ground nearly 250 years ago. Beneath her, thirteen women hold hands — a symbol of the original colonies coming together as one people.

Today, as division and distrust threaten to unravel that shared destiny, we gather in the same spirit of unity that founded this nation.

The Common Ground Project is a community space where Americans of all political beliefs — Democrat, Republican, Independent, and beyond — can come together to listen, learn, and rebuild trust.

We meet not to debate, but to connect.
Not to persuade, but to understand.
Not to win arguments, but to win back our shared humanity.

Join us as we honor the promise born here in Yorktown — to be one people, bound by liberty, compassion, and courage.
