In-Person Meetup for Retirement Group at Yvette's House

Details
Come join Yvette for a light-hearted and heartfelt kickoff to a memory-themed gathering on The Longest Day, part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s national campaign to honor memories and raise awareness.
This 12:00–1:00 PM session is for our group — retirees, semi-retirees, and people navigating life’s next chapter with curiosity and humor.
***
### 🕰️ What’s Happening:
Yvette's event begins with an “Embracing Seniority” Celebration— This will be a time to:
- Honor the wisdom we’ve gained
- Celebrate our life experiences
- Swap stories, jokes, or thoughts on what actually matters now
***
### 📦 Bring a Legacy “Artifact” (optional, but fun!)
You're invited to bring or prepare a small legacy artifact — something that speaks to how you’d like to be remembered or what you’d pass along to future generations. Or it could be some bit of wisdom or a memory from a parent that has been passed down.
Some ideas:
- A photo from a defining moment
- A personal mantra or quote you live by
- A mini “What I’d Tell My Grandkids” letter (whether you have grandkids or not!)
- A favorite recipe, a drawing, or a Seinfeld quote that explains your life philosophy
- A poem or story
- A song
These will become part of a community Memory Jar or Legacy Table, and possibly featured in a “Memory eBook” shared at the end of the event.
***
No pressure to share aloud — but if you feel like standing up and delivering your one-minute life TED Talk, we’ll cheer you on.
Wearing purple, the color for Alzheimer's Awareness, is encouraged 💜
### Want help writing your legacy advice?
Here’s a prompt to try:
“If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self (or future great-grandchild), it would be…”
Write it on a notecard or just bring it in your head.
### 👣 Stay for More?
The fun continues with memory-themed food, games, music, yoga, and a sunset “Memory Circle.”
If you’d like to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, here’s the link, it’s appreciated, but completely optional:
