Tomale Point is the northwestern end of Point Reyes National Seashore. From the Pierce Point Ranch to Tomale Point, we will hike on the trail through coastal grasslands and chaperal with scattered trees while taking in the views of the Pacific Ocean, coastlines, Tomale Bay, Bodega Bay, and the ranges of valleys, hills, and mountains to the east on the peninsula in northern area of Point Reyes. Also, we will hike through the Tule Elk Preserve where we will see herds of tule elks wander the grassy meadows.

**MEETING TIMES AND PLACES**
For carpooling, meet 7:30am at 11th and P st parking lot in Downtown Sacramento, and its free to park your car on weekends only. Suggested carpool gas money, the current price of gas per gallon, so about $4 per hour of driving time.

For those meeting at the trailhead, meet 10:15am at the Tomale Point Trailhead, which is located next to a group of historical white dairy ranch buildings called the " Pierce Point Ranch ". To locate the trailhead; either type the address " Pierce Point Rd, Inverness, CA 94937 ", or put following google gps coordinator in your mobile phone or navigator, 38.189085,-122.954060 .

DRIVING TIME: About 2 hours and 15 minutes non-stop from Downtown Sacramento to Tomale Point Trailhead.
About 2 hours and 30 minutes with a stop at a gas station, coffee shop, or grocery store along the way between Downtown Sacramento and the Tomale Point Trailhead.

**HIKING INFORMATION AND ESSENTIALS**
HIKING LEVEL:Intermediate due to distance and hills.
ELEVATION: About 1,200 feet overall elevation gain, which is up (and down) many hills combined.

DISTANCE: About 9.7 miles total, an out and back hike.

HIKING ROUTE: We will start at the trailhead, then hike on the Tomale Point Trail mostly northwest on rolling hills to Tomale Point for almost 5 miles, then hike back mostly southeast to the starting point for almost 5 miles on the same rolling hills. Also, about 4 miles into the hike, the trail is maintained dirt packed, and then the last almost 1 mile is unmaintained sandy trail. Sorry, no dogs allowed on Tomale Point Trail.

HIKING ESSENTIALS: Bring windbreaker/ligth jecket in case of chilly windy conditions, water, small lunch, something to sit on during lunch, salty snacks, sun protection gear(hat and sunscreen lotion), first aid kit, hiking shoes/boots, and extra pair of pair shoes/sandals for after the hike.
