About us
This is a book club for guys 18-30s who like reading and want people to talk about books with. Whether you’re new in town, looking to expand your social group, or just want friends who read the same stuff you like to read, you can find that with us, and you’re bound to like something in our lineup.
I started this group because when I was looking for a book club to join, I didn’t find ANY in the Andersonville/Edgewater/Rogers Park area that seemed like a good fit for men; they were pretty much all specifically geared toward women. It’s awesome that the ladies have so many options, but it turns out that a lot more guys like to read than we get credit for, so this is a book club where guys are welcome to join without feeling like they’ll be crashing a girl’s night.
A typical book club starts off with folks grabbing drinks or snacks, and then when it’s time to lock in we’ll go around in a circle introducing ourselves, saying how we’d rate the book, and dropping your hot takes. Once we’ve made it around and everyone’s given their two cents, we open things up for broader conversations about the plot, characters, etc.
We have a pretty wide array of genres that guys tend to love, so we’re sure you’ll find something on our list that you’re gonna want to read. The genres we cycle through include:
