What we’re about
This Meetup group is utilized as an additional platform to connect young and widowed in the Denver Metro area to the monthly peer support groups held at The HeartLight Center.
For those not local to the Denver Metro Area:
The HeartLight Center has numerous virtual groups and programs. Please check HeartLight's website frequently as new groups and programs are added often. We hope you are able to find some connections and resources online. Note: we only approve those local to the Denver Metro Area to the meetup group for safety and confidentiality purposes.
For those in the Denver Metro Area:
You will be approved to join the group and this page serves as a reminder for the twice monthly Young Spouse/Partner Loss groups that attend in person.
The original group (also known as the "No time limit since loss" group) is encouraged as a first group for those early in their loss, as well as open to anyone in any point in their journey. This group meets the 3rd Tuesday at The HeartLight Center from 6pm-7:30pm.
Our other monthly support group is the "6+ Young Spouse/Partner Loss Group", and is suggested for those 6 or more months post loss. The topics of discussion can be slightly different once some of the initial shock of loss has matured, and some may feel sensitive to discussions of dating and the next chapters of life after loss. This group meets the 1st Thursday of the month from 7pm-8:30pm at Highlands Church. (Entrance is around back where the parking lot is.)
This Meetup group is setup so anyone in our group (local to Denver Metro Area) can organize and post a gathering or activity. In the past, we've done coffee, happy hour, a backyard bbq, dinner and games. We encourage you to create community within our community. Often others are just hoping someone will put something social out there for connection outside of the support group evenings.
The category of "young" is used to describe a place in life where you may be raising children and/or building your career, typically 50 and under, as opposed to empty-nesters and retirees.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
