Come on out for a post-Thanksgiving stroll along the Penasquitos Creek. We will be parking at the end of Roselle Street street and then walking along the Salt Marsh trail that leisurely skirts Los Penasquitos Lagoon. It's a lovely trail that is actually quite close to the Coaster rail line and freeway, but you don't really notice them much because of how cool the nature is around you is. There may be some fun native species to see like Toyon bushes with their bright red berries, some native birds like California towhees moving about the undergrowth, and maybe even a hawk or two watching us from a large California Sycamore or Torrey Pine. I have seen fish like Mullet swimming there in the tidal lagoon channels that we will be walking along. We will reach Highway 1 after 2.5 miles and then turn back. So, a 5 mile out-and-back type hike. Should take us about 2-3 hours. Start at 11 and we will be back at our cars by 2 pm. Bring some leftover turkey(!), or other snacks to enjoy, and water, as there isn't any available along this isolated trail segment. Very cool spot if you haven't been there before or haven't for a while. Hope to see you guys there!
