## 💬 Discussion Topics & Readings
### 🍵 Session One: Matcha Culture
> Reading Materials: > * Perfect Daily Grind: Matcha Quality in Japan
- Japan is generally considered the benchmark for high-quality matcha (e.g., Uji, Nishio, Kagoshima). Does origin matter to you? Since matcha originally came from China, which country should be considered its “true home”?
- Japan faces matcha shortages and aging tea farmers. Could its popularity hurt the industry? Any solutions?
- Has matcha become a global “fashion drink” rather than a traditional Japanese tea?
- Do you prefer traditional pure matcha or sweet matcha lattes? Is it acceptable to modernize it with flavors like strawberry, mango, or cheese foam? Would you try sparkling matcha soda or matcha beer? What is the strangest matcha product you’ve seen?
- If you could bring one traditional drink from your own culture to global popularity like matcha, what would it be?
- Is the idea of “authenticity” influenced more by branding than actual quality?
### 🧸 Session Two: Capsule Toys (Gacha)
> Reading Material: > * Economics of Gacha
- Why are tourists attracted to Japanese capsule toy stores even if they are not collectors?
- What makes Japanese gacha machines feel more exciting or appealing than ordinary vending machines?
- Has social media made gacha culture much bigger than before?
- Are limited-edition products becoming more powerful because of FOMO (fear of missing out)?
- Is the success of gacha based more on product quality or customer psychology?
- Could Western companies successfully adopt Japanese-style capsule toy culture?
- Does modern society encourage “small happiness” (小確幸) experiences like gacha because life feels stressful?
- What is the funniest or strangest capsule toy you have ever seen? Would you rather receive one expensive gift or 20 random capsule toys?
