yvrTesting - Properly Testing Implementations Leveraging CMS Platforms

Details
NOTE: Different day of the week!!! Due to scheduling conflicts we've moved this back to a Tuesday.
Testing websites will be a part of ALL of our jobs at some point or another. Just about every business has something hosted on the web. Content Management Systems are very commonly used these days for publishing, managing and updating web content. The age old question comes up, if a pre-built packaged tool is creating your content, then what do you need to test? Samta is here to set us straight this week.
Properly Testing Implementations Leveraging CMS Platforms
Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, and Sitecore are used to publish and maintain 68.7% of all websites. That's 1.2 billion of them. Part of the selling point of CMS Platforms is that once they're up and running you don't need IT to continuously help push fresh new content. But does that mean you don't have to test? As always, the answer isn't a simple one, it's a little bit of yes and a little bit of no. Testing is important to ensure that your customer facing presence is as flawless and functional as possible but repetitive testing without functional change is boring, less effective and expensive. Building a Test Strategy to properly address risk, give software safety its due and not overuse your resources is key to success with CMSs. In this meetup, Samta will introduce the audience to CMSs, help us understand their nuances and illustrate Good Practices for testing your CMS implementation.
