Saturday Morning Hike on the Pleasant Valley Loop Trail

Details

Wanting to get up into the mountains and enjoy the outdoors minus the elevation gain of summit hikes? The Pleasant Valley Loop trail provides a great opportunity for new and seasoned hikers to enjoy the outdoors without climbing a peak.

Join us for a journey through the scenic Pleasant Valley Loop, nestled near majestic Mount Rainier. This unique trail offers a surprising wilderness experience despite following alongside Highway 410 for a portion.

Hike Highlights:

  • Diverse landscapes: Immerse yourself in towering forests, serene riverbank strolls, and even a glimpse of the burn area from the 2017 fire, adding a touch of ecological intrigue.
  • Wildflower potential: We may be treated to a vibrant wildflower display along the American River in June.

Logistics:

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (mostly flat with a few gentle inclines).
  • Distance: The half loop is approximately 5 miles.
  • Pace: Leisurely, with plenty of time for breaks and photos.

Trail Description:
Our journey will begin at the Goat Peak Trailhead, where we'll head west, crossing the highway carefully. We'll then navigate a short section along a dirt road before entering the official trail. Once we reach the Fifes Peak Lookout area, we'll cross back over the highway and onto the east side. Here, we'll do a river crossing to connect back onto the trail as it delves deeper into the forest, offering a chance to truly commune with nature. Keep your eyes peeled for wildflowers along the American River as we follow the trail eastward to bring us back to the Goat Peak Trailhead, completing our adventure.

This hike is perfect for beginner hikers wanting to get outside and for seasoned hikers wanting to catch some early Mountain Wildflowers.

RSVP below and let's explore the hidden beauty of the Pleasant Valley Loop!
