Cross Country Skiing - Elk Pass / Blueberry Hill, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park

Description: There is no doubt that Elk Pass on the Great Divide is the most popular destination in the park. It isn't the environs of the pass or the views which attract, but rather the character of the trail itself coupled with consistently excellent snow conditions which draws skiers back to Elk Pass long after the snow has melted from low down the trail.

This once challenging spur from Elk Pass, turn right at the picnic table, the trail takes you in a superlative viewpoint overlooking Kananaskis Lakes. A fine day is mandatory as is a pair of binoculars, wineskin and lawn chair, in the summer time, and an awesome viewpoint is provided.

Distance: Elk Pass and Blueberry Hill: 7 + 3.2 Kilometers

Height Gain: 274 + 158 Meters

Maximum Elevation: 1975 + 2057 Meters

Difficulty: Intermediate

Meeting Time and Place: Please arrive no later than 7:45 a.m., in the northeast corner of the Edworthy Parking Lot, to arrange carpooling as we will be departing at 8:00 a.m. sharp.

Driving Distance: Approximately 1 Hour and 50 Minutes / 136.6 Kilometers one way. The Club suggests a compensation of $0.06 cents per kilometer both ways for the driver(s) of the carpools. (Approximately $18.00)

Notice of Cancellation: The trip leader will contact registered participants by telephone or by email if the trip is cancelled or postponed. Participants are asked to contact the trip leader if they have a change of plans.
