Important WordCamp Announcement from Paul Holmes

Paul H.
Victoria, BC
Dear Friends,
It has been an amazing experience for me to be a key part in organizing 5 WordCamp events in Victoria. I have had the opportunity to learn so much and get to know some really amazing folks from here on Vancouver Island, and, indeed around the world.
However, the time has come that the task of volunteering to organize formal WordCamp events within the WordPress Foundation model has become too time-consuming for me with family obligations, my growing financial practice, and Social Media Camp (which remains Canada's largest social media event). As such, I am not applying to organize any WordCamp events in Victoria in January, 2014 (the month we have traditionally had it), and have instead worked with my Social Media Camp partner Chris Burdge to develop a new, different, and still affordable event which we think you will interest you.
The new event is called: Blogging and Social Media Bootcamp
It will be held Saturday, October 19th, and will include 3 streams of learning with 17 presenters: WordPress, Social Media, and Blogging and Content. We believe we have brought together some of the best minds from around our region and beyond, to provide a full day of outstanding educational experience, for only $79 plus taxes and registration fees.
We're very excited to welcome Steve Dotto as the keynote speaker, entertainingly educating us all about his experience and success building a YouTube channel.
In addition to great speakers, the Knowledge Cafe returns with our friends Jon Valade, Adam McFadyen, John Overall, and many other WordPress and social media experts. These folks are available throughout the day to help you with your one-on-one questions.
Registration is now open, and you can find this on the Social Media Camp website. Of course, I've also created an event page on so you can share your attendance with other WordPressers, if you so choose.
I hope you can join me on October 19th, and thank you again!
