mindfulness exercises: breath work, qigong, tai chi, guided meditation, theory

Details
Please RSVP early and respond to questions if you plan to attend. It helps me to plan ahead and personalize my lessons for each of my classes.
Please see the discussion section on our main meetup page for testimonials and comments on our practices.
We take a holistic approach to mindfulness, developing and harmonizing the internal and external, with special emphasis on theory - for a more scientific understanding of breathing, meditation, and movement. More unique to tai chi mindfulness practice is the integration of meditation, internal/external coordination with movements, and spiritual development. We will cover basic breath work (qigong), intent, yang and chen style tai chi forms, push hands, self-defense applications, mindfulness meditation exercises, and development of the senses. Benefits are intended to extend beyond the class, hopefully to enhance one’s awareness and enjoyment of everyday experiences.
Our training is especially recommended for those seeking a more profound understanding of mindfulness meditation and learning/practicing skills to improve balanced movements and circulation of energy with intent and spirit.
All levels of experience are welcome. Beginners can join any time. Only participate in exercises that you feel safe to do. We will be outside. Dress in warm, comfortable layers.
Classes are free to attend. However, I would appreciate optional donations to help cover costs for Meetup organizer fees, equipment, my continuing education… I recommend $1 - $40 a month, based on what you can afford, the value you place on this class, and what pay for a comparable class. And for those who are instructors for other classes and plan to apply the contents learned from our practices, please donate at least the amount that that you are charging.
We generally meet weekly on Tuesdays 5-7pm, but sometimes will shift to Thursday if there is a scheduling conflict. So please regularly check details on our meetup event page for the most updated schedules and potential postponement or cancellations, especially before heading to each practice.
We plan to have additional events in the near future, such as social events and more practices, as this group evolves. Some of us currently stay after 7pm to practice Chen Style Tai Chi, push hands, and sword, and longfist on Saturdays. Please inquire if you’re interested in these other classes or private lessons.
