Topic: Why Interior Decoration is not Interior Design?

Moderated by: Senior Interior Designer Madalsa Soni

An oft faced challenge by design professionals is to educate their clients that decoration is a small part of design and that design involves a process and encompasses much more than making a space look aesthetically and visually pleasing. Therefore, decoration can be design, but design cannot be decoration.

Homeowners on the other hand assume design to be decoration and therefore cannot comprehend and appreciate the role of an interior designer well enough, often disrespecting and underestimating the power of design.

How are the two different? How can the misconception be avoided? At a business level, how can a good understanding of each other's perspective be achieved and help both home owners and designers? At the upcoming meetup, eminent designer Payal Kapoor helps us interpret what design is and how it can help generate the most appropriate user-friendly spaces.

This will be followed by a panel discussion comprising five acclaimed designers-architects.

Whether you are a design professional or a home owner looking to get your home designed, be sure to be there. Meet, greet, network and share ideas on tips and trends.
