Details
SO. MUCH. FUN! HOW DO I SIGN UP?
All pertinent event info is here: http://www.anotherdamrace.us/
REGISTRATION IS LIVE! StooooOOOOOked!
There are many paddle craft categories, this is beginner-friendly, and, as many of us discovered in previous years, there are plenty of advanced (former Olympians) and friendly paddlers there to learn from. Here's a great video from our friends at ARE Outrigger: https://youtu.be/iYI74g5EqQg
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?
Check the ADR website for details! There are different distances and paddlecraft. Start and Finish is at Bluewater Resort & Casino in Parker, AZ.

ANY FOOD?
Yes. Lunch is excellent with options for vegetarians. Awards and prizes from sponsors follows lunch. You can also buy groceries from the local Walmart and Safeway that are nearby the resort. There are a few eateries in town, as well.
WHO CAN PADDLE IN THIS EVENT?
ANYBODY can paddle this out-and-back event on one of the calmest sections of The Colorado River. There will be Olympic-level paddlers involved, as well as absolute beginners. It is 100% inclusive. Youth are encouraged to participate, as well as adults. Come and play with and learn from the best. Kayaks, surfskis, outriggers, stand up paddleboards, canoes, pedal-craft, oversized multi-person SUPs are all welcome. It's like a 5k or marathon; there are a few podium spots, but most of us go to get a good workout and have fun on the river.
BAD ASSES. You know, DONKEYS.
On the CA side of the river, if you drive over there, watch for burros along (or even in) the road. Seriously. They tend to emerge during the day, but can be out during the evening hours. Just stay focused on the road instead of the river!
HOTELS, AIRBNBs, CAMPING RESORTS, ETC.
Book your lodging well ahead of time. There are plenty of campgrounds, nightly rentals, and some hotels in the area. Lake Havasu is just 40 minutes or so away, so that presents some options, too.
NIGHT PADDLE and BBQ
We (Dig Paddlesports) will be staying at a home in Moovalya Keys, a beautiful "canal home" with a pool table and huge dock for kayaks and boards. Paddling the canals at night is a TREAT. There are about 2 miles worth of canals, and it makes for a great recovery crawl at the end of the day. We throw a potluck BBQ with grilled chicken, brats, steak, whatever, out on the patio Saturday night, then we paddle the canals (headlamps!). You can ACTUALLY paddle in, or park out on the main road, and we'll do a quick shuttle to get you in. Curbside parking is limited at the home, itself. BBQ and paddle from 6-10 pm.
HOW MANY PEOPLE FROM ZION PADDLERS HAVE GONE BEFORE?
We've had up to 30 Zion Paddlers out in years past. You don't have to be fast to show up and play. You don't need fancy gear to have fun, but it does help you to go faster! Play hard or take it easy, everybody has a great time.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO PARKER, AZ?
It's a good 4.5-5 hour drive from St. George, UT, depending on your route. When I'm dragging a 22' trailer, it's closer to 6.5 hrs. Carpooling is a great idea, if you can do it.
