26summits.ch: Loop hike Farnere, LU (930m up, 930m down)

Let's support this initiative and contribute to nature conservation by hiking! Along the path we will have the opportunity to scan the 26summits QR code and thereby raise funds for a good cause.

The hike takes place in one of the most intact ecosystems in Switzerland, the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch nature reserve. Besides the scenery we might be lucky enough to spot some wild life, too.
There is a possbility to do BBQ towards the end of the hike, so if you bring something with, we can light the fire.

8:00 Zürich Main Station, in front of the departure platform
Tickets: Zürich HB - Schlüpfheim, Bahnhof (return)

Departure:
8:10 IR70 direction Luzern (expected Platform 8) - arrive in Luzern 8:51)
8:57 RE Bern, to Schüpfheim - arrive 9:28

Distance: 13 km
Highest elevation of the trail: 1572 m asl.
Duration: 5 + breaks hours
Difficulty: you need to be in good shape, moderate difficulty level.
Conditions: due to recent rains it is expected to be muddy, slippery.

Return:
from Schüpfheim, the same way we arrived. Duration to ZH HB: 1:30 hours

Gear:
- High hiking boots (expect rocky mountain terrain)
- Sun / Wind / Rain protection
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Water (2+ liters)
- hiking poles recommended
