A fantastic hiking weekend in Ticino with breathtaking views and a cozy hut.

We take the 8:09 connection from Zurich HB to Maggia, Centro, where we start the hike at 11am. We finish at Mergoscia, Posta; back in Zurich at 18:28 on Sunday.

The pace both days will be normal and the breaks sufficient to generous. T2 and T3 trails. The first day we hike from Maggia to Capanna Alpe Nimi (7km, 1400m up, 4.5 hours). We check in at the hut in the early afternoon and those who want can stay there, while the enthusiasts approach Cima di Nimi (2191, T3+, another 3 hours up and down). The second day (15km, mostly flat and gradually down, 6 hours of hiking time), we go through Btta d'Orgnana, Pizzo di Corbella, Madone, Alpe di Bietri and down to Mergoscia.

We stay in Cap. Alpe Nimi at 1718m. The cost is 65chf and includes bed, dinner, and breakfast. There is potable water in the hut. You need to be fine sleeping in a 10- or 4-persons bedroom. The hut is "simple" (read "cozy").

Bring proper mountain hiking boots, layers of clothes, sun and rain protection, enough water, and picnic for lunch for Saturday and Sunday. Trekking poles are recommended. As always, put a winter hat and light gloves in the backpack. Take a sleeping inlet for the hut (there are blankets).

Important: To RSVP, you need to complete the following steps: 1) As you sign up for the event, send me a message asking for my IBAN and saying by when you plan to make the transfer. Do not just click "RSVP" without having sent the message. Once I reply, 2) transfer the amount of 65chf there. You're confirmed only after you've made the payment.

Watch out for updates the days before the hike. If the weather forecast is for better weather on Saturday, the hike will reverse its direction (in which case, we'd depart from Zurich at 7:32; same arrival at 20:51 on Sunday). If the forecast is for really bad weather both days, the hike may be canceled, in which case you'll get the payment back.
