How about Ticino this Saturday!?
From Intragna up the valley of the Isorno river all the way to the village of Auressio and then back down to Cavigliano.
Alison has done a hike in this region before and recommends it as really worthwhile.

  • 07:33h: EC (direction Milano) Zürich HB to Bellinzona
  • 09:19h: S20 Bellinzona to Locarno
  • 09:51h: RE73 (direction Domodossola) Locarno FART station to Intragna
  • 10:08h: Arrival at Intragna & start of the hike

  • Duration: ca. 5¾ hrs
  • Distance: 14 km
  • Ascent/descent: 1'050m up / 1'100m down
  • Maximum altitude: 854m

  • 17:50h: R70 Cavigliano to Locarno FART station
  • 18:15h: S20 Locarno to Bellinzona

  • 20:27h: Arrival back at Zürich HB

Earlier option:

  • 16:36h: R70 Cavigliano to Locarno FART station
  • and so on (1 hour earlier)
