• 18:30 - 18:55 -- Insanely fast to production using Astro ~ Elian Van Cutsem

In this talk, we’ll explore building full-stack web applications powered by Astro, Astro Actions and Astro DB. We’ll start by discovering the basics of Astro, why and where it’s useful, and how to build a web applications with it. We’ll discover how to use Astro’s new default hybrid rendering mode to add API routes and dynamic server-side rendering to the application. Then we’ll dive into Astro DB, a simple, yet powerful ORM used to communicate between a LibSQL database and your Astro application. Also, Astro 5.0 has been released, we’ll round up the talk by looking at how we can combine all of these features with a powerful headless CMS like React Bricks.

• 18:55 - 19:20 -- Rebuilding the Soul of the ZurichJS Platform: Media-First Frontends with ImageKit ~ Faris Aziz

We overcame our struggles with displaying event photos and videos by adopting ImageKit. We'll show you what the problem space was and how we rebuilt our media experience in a weekend, moving from a problematic static image setup and Next.js limitations to a real-time, responsive, and optimized solution.

In this talk, Bert tells the story of Frustrated Bob, a developer dealing with shifting priorities, vague requirements, and broken communication. Expect practical takeaways, real examples, and some darkly funny moments every developer will recognise.

• Elian Van Cutsem is a Developer Relations lead, software engineer, former Astro core team Elian, works in the Developer Experience field. Specifically focusing on user experience, documentation, developer guidance, developer education side of things. After hours, he helps organize BeJS, React Paris, React Brussels, and React Africa. Next to that, he organises the Devs.gent meetups in his hometown. Known for his passion, puns, and innovative approach to delivering exceptional user experiences, Elian brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creativity to his talks. Guaranteed fun on stage.
• Bert De Swaef tries to understand everything in the web world. Front-End or Back-End it really doesn't matter.

• Bogdan Ilie is a user advocate. He's dipped his toes into Web Development, Technical Writing, Marketing, Design, and more. That makes him uniquely predisposed to identify improvement opportunities anywhere in the chain, or come up with unique solutions to problems.
• Faris Aziz is a front-end master and Staff Software Engineer at Smallpdf, after his Engineering management job at Navro, a fintech company in the UK. Faris is a mentor, conference speaker, and workshop instructor, most recently at CityJS and other major conferences. He has contributed to open-source projects like Raycast and has mentored on platforms like Mentor Cruise. His projects include work on GCN, Eurosport, Discovery+, Fiit (a top UK fitness app), and he was the founding engineer of Navro in London. He also serves as a technical mentor at the Bletchley Institute.
• Nadja Hesselbjerg is a Zurich-based frontend developer with a flair for crafting sleek, user-friendly web experiences. With a passion for innovative UX/UI design, she transforms complex ideas into intuitive digital solutions. Her multicultural background adds a unique perspective to her work. When she's not coding, Nadja is likely exploring the latest design trends or enjoying the vibrant Swiss tech scene.
• Enrique Ruiz Durazo is a Software Engineer, product designer, and content creator. Obsessed with crafting great websites, apps, and creating quality content. He really wanted to get involved, and is the volunteer behind the camera, capturing amazing moments at ZurichJS events.
