Psychological and Emotional Abuse (EVENT IN PERSON IN GENEVA)
If someone uses words, gestures or actions that make us feel insecure, fearful, stressed, humiliated, betrayed, unfairly treated, or restricted it results in our sense of psychological safety being affected and probably on many levels.

While we are aware that physical hit in someone’s face is not socially acceptable, the impact of the psychological and emotional ‘punch’ seems to be invisible.

In reality, our brain processes the punch in our face in the same way as a social rejection, for example. While the physical pain can be healed without recalling it after a period of time, the scar in our psyche is deeper and takes longer to heal. And the same strength of emotions can be elicited many years after the event.

There are many forms of the psychological and emotional abuse; some can be subtle but consistent and difficult to recognize until they develop in a bigger problem. It happens in family and couple relationships, at work and schools, to women, men, and children of any age.

Elena Ruiz and I organize a discussion on psychological and emotional abuse on 19th September in Geneva. You can register on elena.ruizgva@gmail.com.

Note: This meeting is meant to share knowledge and experience, self-care strategies, and support each other. We are fully committed to create a safe environment for all participants. If you are on a healing journey or feel sensitive now to this topic, please consider your wellbeing. We do not provide diagnosis, treatment, or recommendation to your situation. Thank you for your understanding.
