About us
A Meetup for all science fiction fans around! We organize regular events to chat about our favorite SF movies, books, TV shows, and more. It takes place usually in bars or in public parks (when the weather allows). Other events may include visits and excursions, and going to the movie theaters! English is somewhat the default language, but we speak German and French as well :)
What we expect from everyone:
Platforms such as Meetup permit us to reach out to a large audience, and to bring together many people who did not know each other before. This is a fantastic opportunity, yet it does not go without its own challenges. To make sure that everybody enjoys as good an experience as possible, please read the following carefully.
We expect all members of the Zurich Science Fiction Meetup to be polite and civil with everyone, at all times. We encourage members to use their real (at least first) name, and a picture of themselves, however, this is not mandatory and we respect your choices in this matter of privacy. Moreover, people who join this group are not expected to share with other members any information that they would prefer to keep private, such as contact information or other social media accounts, and no member should insist on obtaining such information from other members.
Be respectful of others: because we are part of a private group does not mean that basic courtesy does not apply. If you feel that someone behaves incorrectly towards you, please let us (the core organizers) know. In addition, we will not tolerate the use of accounts with blatantly fake information that are used for deceit. If necessary, we can decide to ban from the group anyone who does not respect these simple recommendations.

Movie Night: Metropolis (1927)
Arthouse Movie, Nägelihof 4, Zurich 8001, CHIn the 21st-century, Metropolis is a gigantic city sharply divided between the thinkers (wealthy industrialists and the finance elite), who live in opulent towers above ground, and the working class, who toil endlessly in the dangerous factories far below. The story follows Freder (Gustav Fröhlich), the son of the city's master Joh Fredersen, who falls in love with Maria (Brigitte Helm), a charismatic worker and prophet who preaches hope and peace between the classes.
When Freder’s father (Alfred Abel) tries to crush the workers' rebellion using a malevolent, robotic double of Maria, the clash between humanity and technology threatens to destroy the entire city.
This silent masterpiece explores timeless themes of class conflict, industrial exploitation, and the dehumanization of workers by technology.
Directed by Fritz Lang (Woman in the Moon, Die Nibelungen).
