Movie Night: Children of Men (2006)

Details
It's the year 2027, and the world teeters on the brink of collapse. For eighteen years, humanity has been plagued by an inexplicable phenomenon: global infertility. No child has been born, and with each passing day, hope dwindles, replaced by widespread despair, anarchy, and a weary acceptance of mankind's inevitable extinction. Governments crumble, societies descend into chaos, and the last vestiges of civilization are policed by increasingly brutal, authoritarian regimes.
Theo Faron (Clive Owen), a disillusioned former activist haunted by personal tragedy, drifts through this dying world, his cynicism a shield against the futility of existence. But his apathy is shattered when he's abducted by the Fishes, a radical immigrant rights group led by his estranged ex-wife, Julian (Julianne Moore). They present him with an impossible, dangerous task: to transport a young, undocumented refugee named Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey) to a mysterious, clandestine organization known only as the Human Project.
Children of Men is a visceral, unflinching, and ultimately hopeful epic about the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable despair, by acclaimed Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Y tu mamá también, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Roma).
