Movie Night: Robocop (1987)

Details
In a dystopian, crime-ridden Detroit, the brutally murdered police officer Alex Murphy is resurrected as RoboCop, a cybernetic law enforcement unit. Programmed to serve the public trust, protect the innocent, and uphold the law, RoboCop is a marvel of technology, yet he struggles with fragmented memories of his past life. As he dispenses justice with cold, metallic efficiency, he begins to unravel the sinister corporate conspiracy behind his own creation, forcing him to reclaim his humanity in a world that sought to strip it away, and ultimately confront the very forces that made him.
A violent and funny satire exploring the consequences of unregulated, rampant privatization of public services, corporate cronyism and the Reagan Era, by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Basic Instinct).
