Hi Everyone,

We are going to the Lake Constance (Bodensee) "East End" - incl. Hundertwasser Building and Austrian Lagoon. Joining Jürg's (my friend and hike leader) monthly hike.

As travel may be easier from different starting points, the main meeting point is Altenrhein, Markthalle.

🚌 Starting Point: 09:40 ‘Altenrhein, Markthalle’
(nicest coffee- and bathroom-stop ever!)
Time: 09:40am

Find the turquoise Zürich Together Banner.

Further route: 10:47 CH bus/S-Bahn to Rheineck

Recommended tickets:
- Saver ticket to ‚Altenrhein, Markthalle, arrival 09:40‘.
- Saver ticket back from ‚St. Margrethen SG’ departure 18:10.
Local bus ticket to Rheineck (half fare CHF 2.70) and maximo-day-flatrate for buses & trains in the Austrian parts (CHF 17.80) can be bought instantly, all in the SBB app.

Travelling home: open, with different options

Perhaps a good idea to by your ticket just before you take the train.

Walk details: T1, ~9 km
🥾 800 m walk across the border via Strandweg and wooden bridge - 11:21 Austrian bus Gaissau-Fussach - 🥾 8.6 km walk around lagoon and back (🏊‍♀️ + 2.6 km if going to the swimming place) - Bus to Bregenz (beer and food everywhere), train back e.g. at 18:00
🐣 No previous experience required = good chance to bring along friends who don’t normally hike - or would even like to swim :-)

T1: Well-constructed footpath. Where possible, all exposed areas are made secure with fixed cables, railings, etc. The risk of falling can largely be ruled out with normal behaviour. (Source: SAC Mountain and Alpine Hiking Scale)
