Harvest Moon Pancakes
Details
Excited to finally kick off this group after a long period of planning, revising, and experimenting. Our first session is inspired by Chuseok, the Korean mid-autumn harvest festival centered on family gatherings, seasonal foods, gratitude, and sharing.
Among the many dishes traditionally prepared and shared during Chuseok, we will focus on making four kinds of Korean pancakes: Kkochi Jeon (skewered pancake), Hobak Jeon (zucchini pancake), Donggeurangttaeng (minced meat fritter), and Dongtae Jeon (cod pancake).
Together, we will prepare these dishes and a simple dipping sauce made with soy sauce and sesame oil. At the end of the session, we will package the food as a small gift to take home and share with someone who comes to mind when you think of Chuseok. If you wish, I will also include a small portion of homemade kimchi.
We will meet in front of the Starbucks at Zwolle railway station and walk together to my home kitchen studio, located in a beautiful and cozy neighborhood. The ingredients and utensils will already be prepared, so we can begin cooking shortly after arriving.
Please bring an apron. If this is your first visit to Zwolle and you would like to explore the city afterward, I will be happy to share some tips. The city center is about a 15-minute walk from my home.
Please let me know in advance if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. I will do my best to prepare suitable alternatives.
I particularly recommend this session to:
- people who find peace in small, repetitive tasks;
- people who enjoy collaborative, hands-on activities;
- people who do not mind spending some hours surrounded by the aroma of cooking oil.
I look forward to cooking, sharing stories, and celebrating the harvest season together!
Youn (Madam Kimchi)
