Film screening under dialogical encounter (The Last Dance [破地狱], 2024)

🎥 Film: The Last Dance (2024) [破地狱]

Storyline: Directed by Anselm Chan, both celebrates and interrogates Hong Kong’s treasured and culturally distinctive deathcare rituals. Through its depiction of traditional Taoist death-care rituals, the film probes cultural symbols, taboos, religion, gender, and the weight of inherited practices, ultimately seeking to understand life and death at the intersection of folk religion, Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucian ethics.
