First for 2014

Details
Hi All,
It's been a while since our last meetup, so lets start 2014 in style with a couple of awesome speakers, pizza and beer.
We have the awesome Peter Goodman and Grant Archibald speaking.
Talk details:
mmBot
If you haven't heard of Hubot, it's a chat room bot built by those crazy kids at GitHub. He can be taught to automate tasks like running builds, deploying sites and fetching amusing pictures of cats.
Hubot is written in Coffee-script on Node.js, which is a fantastic environment but we wanted to see what it would be like to port him to the .Net stack, hence mmbot was born. Naturally we started with cat pictures and worked our way back from there.
In this talk we'll take a quick tour of:
-
what mmbot can do
-
how he is put together
-
how scriptcs is used to make the script authoring experience awesome
-
some of the other cool bits that make him tick.
By day Pete Goodman writes Windows 8 and Windows Phone Apps at Marker Metro, by night he commits atrocities like this in the name of open-source. He likes long walks on the beach, beer and learning about graph databases in the context of walking to beer.
So what is OWIN?
Take a look at what OWIN (Open Web Interface For .Net) is and how frameworks like ASP.Net, Nancy, WebApi and SignalR leverage it to make a more modular web environment.
Grant is a ASP.Net/IIS MVP and ASPInsider and has been working as a developer/architect for the last 18 years covering a range of technologies for web, mobile, desktop and backend systems.
Cheers
James
