ABOUT ACTION FOR HAPPINESS
We all want to live happy and fulfilling lives and we want the people we love to be happy too. So happiness matters to all of us.
Happiness is about our lives as a whole: it includes the fluctuating feelings we experience everyday but also our overall satisfaction with life. It is influenced by our genes, upbringing and our external circumstances - such as our health, our work and our financial situation. But crucially it is also heavily influenced by our choices - our inner attitudes, how we approach our relationships, our personal values and our sense of purpose.
Action for Happiness works to support evidence based practices and theories that support well being. Local group website: www.actionforhappinessbrighton.org.uk.

'Happy Cafe' at The Walrus.
The Walrus, 10 Ship Street, Brighton, GBWhen you first arrive ask behind the bar where Action for Happiness (Happy Cafe) is meeting. We meet upstairs at the Walrus, so we have our own space. Ask at the bar when you arrive and they can direct you up. Please arrive by 17.00.
There are games but they are not intimidating, mainly conversation starters. Do give it a try.
We would like you to feel happier at the end than when you arrived.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
**We recommend you officially join the AFH Brighton group on the main AFH website here www.actionforhappiness.org/groups/brighton. While there, you can also check out the various great resources Action for Happiness has to offer.**

Overcoming Procrastination with Amber Petersen
Unitarian Church Hall,, New Road, Brighton, BN1 1UF, GB"Procrastination is often seen as a lack of discipline or motivation, but in my experience, it’s rarely about laziness.
More often, it’s a fear-based coping mechanism—a protective response that once served us but now keeps us stuck.Having spent the last 15 years understanding and overcoming my own struggles with procrastination, shaped by both ADHD and childhood patterns that made it easy to avoid responsibility, I’ve discovered that lasting change doesn’t come through self-criticism. It comes through self-understanding.
In this gentle and compassionate talk, we’ll explore procrastination from an emotional perspective. Together, we’ll look beyond productivity hacks and instead uncover what our procrastination is trying to protect us from. Through practical tools, inner child work, and present-day self-reflection, we’ll begin to understand the fears that keep us frozen and learn how to respond with compassion rather than judgment.
My hope is that you’ll leave not only with practical strategies, but with a deeper sense of self-trust and a kinder relationship with yourself—because when we learn to show up for ourselves consistently, confidence naturally follows."
This is one of our friendly local events which create a safe, uplifting space to grow and learn together as individuals and as a community. This session led by Amber Petersen is a gift for us and perfect for Jump Back Up July – the Action for Happiness month that focuses on the science of resilience.
As we pay for the hire of the hall, donations are really valued to help our charity group continue. The suggested amount is £5 but less is appreciated too, and everyone is warmly welcomed to join so don't worry at all if you can't donate. 😊
We recommend you also RSVP by officially joining the 10 Keys Group here https://actionforhappiness.org/groups/brighton . We can then send you additional info about this and other events and related resources.
