Artistic Artifacts (https://www.artisticartifacts.com) at 4750 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA is the source for the latest “creative finds for creative minds” — no matter your medium, you'll find products, and techniques for your fiber and mixed media projects. Paid classes/workshops with talented instructors and special events are scheduled on a regular basis, and our shop is also home to the monthly meetings of Judy’s Altered Minds (JAMs), a free altered art group open to all who are interested. We’re an authorized BERNINA dealer and carry a full line of WonderFil Specialty Threads as well as a full range of fabrics and art supplies. Free Open Stitch Sessions at Artistic Artifacts
Artistic Artifacts, 4750 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA, USOur extended summer hours were so popular they are now permanent! Artistic Artifacts is hosting Open Stitch sessions on the first and third Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. This is a drop-in, bring your own hand stitching project and the necessary supplies (or you can knit, crochet... whatever needle arts you like). There’s no fee to attend, no instruction nor agenda — just a time to spend with other creatives!

Make & Take: Gift Tags
Artistic Artifacts, 4750 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA, USWe’re approaching a busy, bustling time of year. Take a bit of a creative break and drop in anytime during the scheduled hours for this holiday themed Make & Take session at our shop in Alexandria and create your own gift tags! Join us on Saturday, December 20th, from 11a-3p — OR on Sunday, December 21st, from 12p-3p. There’s no fee to attend: supplies and quick project instruction will be provided.
Children who are appropriately aged for a projects skills and safely handling crafting tools are welcome, but MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

JAMS Meeting: a creative mixed media group — optional handmade gift exchange
Artistic Artifacts, 4750 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA, USJoin us for Judy’s Altered Minds! Bring your fiber & mixed media show & tell; many members also enjoy making ATCs (artist trading cards) for exchange each month. Come early to shop (JAMs attendees receive a 10% discount on their purchases) — Artistic Artifacts is open Sundays 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. The JAMs meeting starts at 1:30 pm. The December meeting is our annual (and optional) handmade ornament/gift exchange: learn more about the required rules and guidelines if you choose to participate.
New members are always welcome! A $3.00 contribution is requested at each meeting. JAMs members are art quilters, collage artists, art journal keepers, surface design enthusiasts, paper crafters, art doll/assemblage artists and more! All levels of expertise are represented, and all are welcome. During JAMs meetings, attendees gather support and encouragement for their art through show & tell and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded friends.1 attendee
Beginning Quilting with Dudley Shugart (4 morning sessions, Begins January 3)
Artistic Artifacts, 4750 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA, USFour Saturday morning sessions: January 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026 (total four Saturday morning sessions, upstairs classroom). Learn the entire process of making a quilt, from cutting out your fabric to binding. This class will use FreeSpirit Block Party: 40 Quilt Blocks, 5 Samplers, 20 Modern Designers (purchase required by each student) as a text. The first class will cover constructing blocks the teacher selects; the second class will be blocks each student chooses; the third class covers instruction on setting and sashing and the fourth and final class reviews quilting and binding.
Note: this is not an introduction to sewing or a beginning sewing class; basic sewing skills and knowledge of how to use your machine is a prequisite.
