Cloudy to Clear: Big Data and Insights with Azure

This event will be targeted at all those who expressed interest (both at the April Meetup as well as offline) in the various Services in Azure that encompass "Big Data". This should hopefully be of interest to IT pro's, solution architects and developers alike - NOT just data scientists! (Data scientists are welcome to geek out with us too.)

We will informally discuss and show with 99% demos and 0.00001% introductory slideware, these "Analytics" services:

Hadoop / Spark, Machine Learning, Data Lake, Data Factory, and Event Hubs.

(There are others that fall under the category of "Data Services" (e.g. Redis, Data Warehouse, DocumentDb, SQL Database) that we can cover in another Meetup if there is enough interest.)

Your presenter will be Priya Aswani, a Data Solution Architect here at Microsoft, based in Houston.

While we all munch on Pizza and think of questions to ask, Priya will show us around all the various services in Azure. She will tackle answers to these questions:

• What does this service actually do?

• How would anyone use it - and why?

• What problems does it solve - for both IT Pros and Architects / Developers?

She will also answer all and any easy or very hard questions anyone may have along the way; this will be an interactive, demo-heavy session and ZERO prior knowledge on all of these topics is assumed this time (we may do more that are deeper depending on feedback after this event).

Free Pizza and Soft Drinks will be served at ~5:30pm on the 10th floor - we will kick off the discussion there ~6pm after everyone has had a chance to eat, meet anyone else you'd like to and have a chat :-). Feel free to start arriving from 5pm on if you are nearby.

PARKING: For free parking please park across the street on the third and fourth floors of the parking garage at 12711 Queensbury; parking in the Microsoft building is not free and no we can't validate you if you do park there (sorry).
