What we're about
This group is for anyone interested in a discussion with others local to the Houston area around any aspect of Microsoft Azure (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/) and it's rapidly-growing, surrounding (non-Microsoft) ecosystem.
We try and meet each month or so and talk about some aspect of Azure that might be of interest to as many people as possible. Topics range across both all Azure services and 3rd-Party solutions that are deployed upon it so there should be something for everyone.
Attendees to our events usually cover a wide range, and often include students, project mangers, infrastructure-focused IT professionals, Developers, Solution, Application or Enterprise Architects, Security practitioners, "Big Data" Scientists, and business leaders. We also sometimes discuss solutions that 3rd Party (i.e. non-Microsoft) software vendors build on top of Azure to fill in feature gaps (via the Azure Marketplace (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/)).
The one thing we try NOT our events to be a 'sales pitch' of any kind: we are just about community, learning about technology and gaining experiences in using them from one-another.
Each event will focus on just one Azure area or Service or 3rd Party (Marketplace (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/)) solution, and typically have a guest speaker, a high-level overview followed by technical demonstration(s), and a Q&A session so we can not only share stories but everyone can learn from each other's experiences.
Our Code Of Conduct, which applies to all attendees to all our events, can be found here (https://cloudydemos.z13.web.core.windows.net/CodeOfConductForAzurians.pdf).
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Upcoming events (1)
Modern application development in Azure now requires a wide range of Azure automation technologies and PaaS services in order to save developers the most work and time possible.
Some of these include Infrastructure-As-Code, involve Continuous Integration, should leverage Continuous Delivery, and be deployed to and use PaaS services like Web Apps, Functions, and SQL Databases. These in turn should include Security services like Azure Active Directory and Operations features like Azure Monitor.
Come to this session to get an overview of how all these pieces tie together and get an understanding of what modern application development in Azure truly looks like today, whether you are a Developer, Architect, DevOps person, Networking person, Ops person or Security person: there is an aspect in this story that involves you.
This will be an interactive, demo-heavy session with minimal PowerPoint so you will see how this solution really works in practice. Bring your questions and your challenges!
Your presenter tonight is Daniel Wright, a Principal Technologist at BJSS who is based here in Houston. Daniel will be in-person!
