Hydroponics Build-in : Build a Hydroponic system
Arduino integration - look down below for more info (This allows automation and fine tuning for maximum growth results)
Come in and Design, Test and Build a working hydroponic system.
Whether you are looking to build a small herbs hydroponics system for one person or an entire full family, This build-in class will help you build your ultimate hydroponics system. We will have supply’s for you to make your own 2-liter bottle system you can take home with you. We will have materials and tools for use as well. Take a look at the videos below for some ideas.
Feel free to ask questions in the comments section before the class or just come with a list.
Hydroponic Gardening is Simple and Easy
Hydroponics is basically growing plants without soil. It is a more efficient way to provide food and water to your plants. Plants don’t use soil – they use the food and water that are in the soil. Soil’s function is to supply plants nutrients and to anchor the plants’ roots. In a hydroponic garden, you provide your plants with a complete nutrient formula and an inert growing medium to anchor your plants’ roots so they have easier access to the food and water.
This build-in class is to assist you in building all the types of systems and how to get started into hydroponics in your own house.
Here is a small list of everyday items used to make hydroponic systems for free:
Bottles : 2-liter, soda or water type.Yogurt containers, Orange juice, Milk containersSmall applesauce or fruit containers.
Any other plastic or glass container that originally stored food or liquid for human consumption.

You may purchase other supply’s if you would like, We will have some of the following supply’s for purchase:
All Prices are estimate, the actual price might be lower or higher depending on cost.
Food Grade safe 5-gallon buckets - starts at $ 5.00
Water Pumps - Starts at $ 10.00
Air Pumps - Starts at $ 8.00
Air Stones - from $ 5.00
Sterilite storage containers ( for larger systems) - $ 3.00 to $ 15.00
⅛ inch black Drip irrigation line - .10 cents per foot
⅛ inch clear Air tubing - .10 cents per foot
½ inch black water tube - $ 1.00 per foot
2 inch net pots - .50 cents each
3 inch net pots - .75 cents each
Nutrient solution - Starts at 5.00
and much more….
We use a local Hydroponics store in Hackensack Bergen County Hydroponics (http://www.bergenhydro.com/) which you may purchase your supplies from or any online provider such as E-Bay (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Hydroponics&ssPageName=GSTL) or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hydroponics&sprefix=hydropo%2Caps).
Arduino integration - Automation using the Micro Controller known as an arduino
Build your own hydroponic monitor and control systems! Use Arduino to make your own LED Light Array, Temperature and Humidity Monitor, Fan Controllers, pH meters, EC meters, Water Tank Systems, Sprinklers and much more. Whatever you want to monitor and control with an Arduino, you can make it! Follow our tutorials and create your own hydroponic devices.
3D printing integration - Print custom adapters and nozzles for your custom system
Design and print your own 3d printed items to make your system better or customized. Take a look at whats already been designed on thingiverse. Thingiverse: key word: Hydroponics (http://www.thingiverse.com/tag:hydroponics)
Take a look at our Calendar schedule (https://www.meetup.com/Bergen-Makerspace/events/) for our next class on Arduino’s or 3D printing.
If you have questions about compatibility before you buy something please post a comment or email the instructor at themrcook@gmail.com
