The C&O Canal is a 184 mile bike trail that goes from Washington DC to Cumberland Maryland. It is a beautiful trail along it's whole length with a wide variety of scenery. Also the added history along the full length of the trail makes this ride spectacular. With it's beauty and remnants from the old canal days, there is much to see and learn at every part of the ride.

The ride will average 35 to 40 miles a day, depending on where we stop to camp for the evening. We will bike camp Friday and Saturday nights. Therefore you will need to be able to carry camping equipment and everything else you need for a 3 day ride. So you will need Pannier bags and a rack to carry them. Also, some people use bike trailers to pull their equipment. You will also need a hybrid or mountain bike for the ride.

The final plan will be discussed as time gets closer and when we know who is going. But, it will be the middle section of the trail we will ride on, starting at the Paw Paw Tunnel and riding somewhere past Harpers Ferry. RSVP's will close 2 weeks before the ride in order to finalize plans. We will use a pay for bike shuttle service to transport us and our bikes to the starting point. We will therefore be able to ride back to our vehicles on the 3 day ride.
