Keeping with our summer reading tradition, the book club has chosen, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" as our July book selection.
"Uncle Tom's Cabin is one of the most significant works of American literature in existence. The best selling novel of the entire 19th century, its anti-slavery message is credited with much of the social upheaval and change at the time. It tells the story of a small group of slaves, including Uncle Tom and Eliza, as they are separated from their kind master and endure all sorts of hardship and terror. Though it has a controversial reputation today, its influence on society at large is undeniable, and still persists to this day."
Members can RSVP starting today 6-12-13.
