Mapping Brunei, Hackathons and Beyond

Details
Following up from a data hackathon and a community outreach program, there are things to tell and discuss!
Agenda
• 7pm: Event Kick off
• 7:05pm: Mapping Brunei: The Journey and some Tools and Tricks for your Mapping needs
Tim will recount the arduous gathering data process from the previous data hackathon https://www.meetup.com/BruneiGeekMeet/events/229707511/ We'll touch on mapping tools and general mapping information needed for any mapping/data project
• 7:30pm: I did a thing
A informal section to share something you've done or learned. Ideally under 5 minutes
• 7:50pm: Community Outreach Program
A open discussion about the recent community outreach program that Tim was involved in and ways to quickly prototype stuff, ways to help and ideas from all http://communityoutreach.bruneigeekmeet.com/
• 8:10pm: Informal general discussions and hangout
Some discussion points:
- Events in Brunei: open discussion about events in Brunei. Are they effective? Is there a consistent lack of time for the event in general (e.g. single day hackahtons). Who are they being catered to? Following up with participants and learning from previous experiences
- The copy pasting of Brunei businesses: from nasi katok, to cube shops and modern cafes
- Open data in Brunei: the continual discussion of open data and access to them
P.S. Anybody keen to give an "I did a thing" talk (or even a longer form one), do message me or leave a comment below 😄
