Due to the overwhelming popularity of our breakfast events, we are pleased to re-introduce Sustainability for Lunch! Every two months we'll feature a different local business and tour its operations to learn more about its sustainability practices.
In August we'll visit Blackline GPS - a Calgary-based technology company that has expanded their line of GPS products to include socially responsible, employee safety monitoring solutions. Products are designed, developed and made here in Calgary to help corporations protect and ensure the safety of their employees. Blackline has also taken an ecologically conscious approach to package products with recyclable materials, and recycles subassembly parts when a product is taken out of service.
You will have a chance to tour the research, development, and manufacturing areas at Blackline as well experience the interactive product display room of employee safety devices and unique tracking products.
There is limited parking available at Blackline and cars will need to travel to 14th Street to access the road close to Blackline. Limited parking is available near the playground which is about a block away from the brick building near the railway tracks.
Check out Google maps for directions.
To reduce our eco footprint for this event, we ask that our guests consider carpooling, biking or public transit. Bus #1 stops at the intersection of 13th Street and 9th Ave SE. Walk south on 13th Street toward the low brick building located near the train tracks (about 2.5 blocks). For detailed route information visit http://www.calgarytransit.com
Executive Mat Service and Janitorial Supply will be diverting all of the event's waste and turning it into clean energy used in their Calgary plant.
Lunch will be provided. Please indicate in your comments with your RSVP if you have any dietary restrictions.
No unregistered guests, please.
Payment is required at the time of your RSVP and is $12 per person. There will be a limited number of spaces at the door for those wishing to pay by Calgary Dollars.
This event is limited to 40 guests. Register early to avoid disappointment!
Proudly organized by REAP Business Association, The City of Calgary's Office of Sustainability and Bullfrog Power.
